Zonda High Flow Vacuum Pump

The Zonda Vacuum Pump has been designed for use with vacuum-driven platens and dispensing tip drying systems in microarray and semiconductor laboratories that require high air flow without excessive vacuum pressure. Our Zonda pumps are oil-free pumps that produce strong vacuum pressure and ultra-high air flow.

Vacuum platens must provide sufficient airflow to hold materials in place without generating excessive vacuum pressure that can damage the materials being positioned. This is particularly important for fragile membranes used in diagnostic manufacturing. When more than one piece of material must be held on the vacuum platen, it is important to maintain sufficient pressure on the first piece of material while the second and subsequent pieces are added to the platen.

The Zonda Vacuum Pump has been designed to possess the characteristics of strong vacuum pressure and high air flow. It has sufficient airflow to hold materials on one part of the platen while other ports on the platen remain open. High airflow is also important when materials containing course surfaces are used. Note that high airflow and high vacuum do not go together and these pumps do NOT generate excessive levels of vacuum.

Some dispensing systems for diagnostic manufacturing, genomics and proteomics use fine tips wherein the volume of wash buffers remaining on the tips after washing is the same order of magnitude as the very small droplets being dispensed. This residual wash buffer must be removed before the next dispensing cycle to maintain dispensing accuracy. Drying these tips with high airflow avoids direct tip contact, can cause tip damage and inconsistent drying.

Our Zonda pumps include 30 micron filters to protect the pump against dust, glass fibers, and other contaminants. The 30 micron filter also incorporates a vapor trap to prevent damage to the pump when liquids are being filtered. Zonda pumps must always be operated using a small amount of airflow as the pumps rely on airflow for internal cooling. Never operate a Zonda pump with a completely blocked inlet.

The Zonda is exceptionally quiet and it can be left running continuously on a laboratory bench as it is barely audible over the background noise of a typical scientific laboratory.

Zonda High Flow Vacuum Pump

The Zonda Ultra-High Flow Vacuum Pump has been designed for use with dispensing tip air drying systems and many other laboratory applications that require strong vacuum and high air flow from an oil-free pump. It is available in either 110 volt or 220 volt versions and customers should specify their voltage requirements when placing their orders.





Operation Conditions
